We work towards a commom goal of reducing LCoE
The industry is facing a huge challenge regarding O&M costs on blades both for turbines installed onshore and offshore. The link between blades in operation, damages in the field and design & certification requirements is somewhat overlooked and needs further improvements. Design of blades and tests need to reflect “real life” operating conditions to reduce future risk for increasing rates of blade damages and make it possible to obtain the industry goals for LCoE. Tools to reach this are among others more representative test requirements and high level FEM simulations in the design phase.
Several meetings and seminars with industrial partners including certification bodies and test centres have been initiated by the WTOs and Bladena. All meetings/seminars have been held in a positive and constructive atmosphere with room for lively debates between WTOs, OEMs and certification bodies. The WTO Blade Network will continue to keep focus on the operational interest of WTOs and the improvement of requirements for better blades.
